The Future Is Past Vol.6
Welcome to the sixth installment of The Future is Past show after a prolonged hibernation period. Wearily we squint our eyes towards the sky and soberly find it’s still overcast and dismal right as we left it. Add to the misery, rain still reigns and our face is being by chapped by the cold. No one is there to embrace us in our sorrows and we feel a most undesirable sentiment creeping up inside us. Tip Tap. Bit by bit. Weltschmerz is increasing. Asudden solo piano music and films by Ingmar Bergman make sense. Longingly we wrap up warm in our blankets and reminisce about those days in summer, roller skates on our feet and the sun titilating our skin. Oh Melancholia. Dainty sweet sadness taken on lightness. You make us realize why life is worth living for. Now lets wallow in it…
The Future Is Past is a forth-nightly radio show featuring sixty minutes of eclectic and unmixed music from all genres. The next show will take us to France avec Monsieur Phillippe for another popular editon of pop cities, c’est bien ça?

Next up at Cosmic Dancer
Egal also, was einem wichtiger ist.

Founded 1964 in Meißen (East Germany), Stern Combo Meißen (SCM) is considered one of the seminal bands of the East German rock scene in the 70′s alongside Pudhys, Karat and Electra. “Der Kampf um den Südpol” is a track from their self-titled debut album released in 1971 through state-owned Amiga Records. The song is illustrated with various documentary clips of the South Pole conquest and and a recorded live set for East-German television. Enjoy.

ZOMBOCOMBO | MySpace Music Videos
Dompteur Mooner KING Disco Mix by DompteurMooner
Mooner says:
This mix is a bit older (2007 i believe) but sums up quite nicely what i play in a club – I know my other mixes here are quite often too conceptual. This one should make you dance . If not, go home!
hahaha!
BAVARIAN CLÄSSICKS Part1 by Dompteur Mooner and Kitt Bang by DompteurMooner
Mooner says:
This is a mix to take with humour! We took the worst bavarian 80s so-to-say “Bavaria-Italo” and other weird shit and put it alltogether into a mix.
Lots of fun for everyone, more fun for those of you that speak german, of course!
Kratzen Sie jetzt!
MGM04: Club Silencio
Our friend Sebastiano of Club Silencio has just done a gorgeous guest mix for us. Grazie mille! In his own words: “Hey guys, here is a special mix for your blog. I would like to take the opportunity to present a new side project of mine called Robotalco that is solely dedicated to the roots house scene, such as early U.S. house music, garage and deep house. I will be releasing two records soon under that name: One on Mr.Chinn’s (Rongdfa, American Standard) new label called Godwrk and another one on Canyons’ (Dfa/Modular) Hole In The Sky Records.
The mix I have put together is inspired by my first taste of club culture in the 90′s, perhaps the golden age for Italian clubs! I was just a kid back then but my older friends started listening to mix tapes from a club called Ethos Mama Club in Gabicce (one of the most important clubs in the famous ‘riviera romagnola’) and Vae Victis (a very cool afterhour). The resident djs that played there were amongst others: Ralf, Ricky Montanari and Flavio Vecchi and they used to spin this kind of wonderful deep and groovy house music from great labels like Nu Groove, Bottom Line, and many others. Recently this sound has influenced me a lot and and I tried to recreate that kind of mood with a new Club Silencio remix for The Parallels, a Canadian band that will be out soon on Thisisnotanexit recods ( Listen to it here). Enjoy the mix”

Straight Up: Gavin (35), Magician
This interview with Gavin Russom of Black Meteoric Star was conducted last Saturday at a secret location in Dresden. Turns out it wasn’t such a good idea to do it in a middle of a buzzing club at 4am completely drunk with a respondent feeling terrible and sick with flu. Add to this a recording device that only captured parts of the interview and well….I’m just telling you beforehand, so you don’t get too excited. Thanks to Gavin. Hope you are feeling better by now. Here we go.
Keep it it kind of short. I feel terrible.
[Yeah! Good start for an interview]
In Da Club: Disco Edits T-Shirt
Not a day passes without a new category on our blog. This one is called ‘In Da Club’. And yes, the title is a reference to a rap song. After heated discussion with the head of our marketing department, we are being pushed to broaden our approach in order to attract a wider target audience (and subsequently increase ad revenues). This of course is not uncommon for a business to have to refocus and revisit their targeting, especially if it was not clearly identified in the beginning stages of their launch.
We have been told that it is necessary to find the right balance when defining our target market in a way that causes our audience to recognize that we are talking specifically to them. Therefore introducing references to Hip Hop seems like a super-excellent solution. I mean, seriously. Who is interested in disco edits these days?
That leaves me to conclude this post with a statement of intent for the aforementioned category. To woe the intelligentsia at the other end of our reader demographic I would hereby like to take the opportunity to quote Horace and merely say that we are difficili, queruli, laudatori temporis acti. Se puero, castigator, cesorque minoruri.* (Grumbler, inclined to praise the way of the world when they were boys, to play the critics and to be censors of a new generation). Word!
Oh Giorgio: NME Interview 1978
Yeah, new category! This one is called ‘Oh, Giorgio’ and focuses, would you have guessed it, on some of the achievements and anecdotes in the life of our all time favorite superhero: Giorgio. Disco Machine. Moroder. For a start we have here an original transcript of an interview he did with NME in 1978. Check, Check it out. He is telling you something very important.

Look, who I met on the car boot sale the other week. Haven’t seen you guys for ages! Where have you been? Yeah, sorry I haven’t been in touch. I lost my phone and didn’t have your numbers. So, how’s it all going? You still doing music and stuff… Cool, going well, yeah? Really!? When will it be released? I will definitely check that out. Yeah, I know. The music industry is fucked at moment, innit? Everybody is just downloading for free and listing to stuff on Spotify. I’m mean, even I haven’t bought a record for aaaages. Oh well, you can still make money from gigs, can you? Do you have anything lined up? No, i don’t know that club. What was the name again? Don’t worry, I look that up on the interweb. Are you guys on facebook? Yeah, send me an invite and I come down for sure. Cool. I need to shoot. Nice meeting you. Good luck with the album and everything.

Ciao. Anzi addio. Allora, non stavi scherzando te ne vai. Certo che me ne vado. Cosa volevi. Guarda quanto cielo. E quanti amori ci stanno dentro.
E quanti volano via. Potevo lasciarti avere il bambino. Ti rendi conto, cosa sarebbe successo? Per forse sarebbe stato meglio. Almeno non saresti andata via. Sandra, ma dove vai? Dai non scherzare, torna qui. Sandra, ascoltami, ma dai, cosa fai. Ti amo, Sandra. Ti amo, Sandra. Ti amo…

Last Night at Cosmic Dancer
To celebrate a party under the banner ‘The Last Day of Summer’ is an audacious undertaking to pull off considering it had snowed the day before in Dresden. Luckily for us Mix Mup (Erkrankung durch Musique/ Mikrodisko) from Leipzig had brought with him a zestful summer-disco-house orchestra and deco to match: Colorful cardboard palm trees, scrumptious wooden ice cream sticks and over-sized beach cocktails turned the dismal walls of Altes Wettbuero into a picture book Rimini beach setting. Add complimentary tropical fruits and the launch of our very own cocktail entitled Limonata Morosa (more soon) and you felt like Summer has never stopped. But no. It has. Honestly! It’s over now. Live with it!!! That’s it. Awright?!
PS: You will find a tiny clip of Mix Mup’s performance over on our youtube account here.
BOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSS
An excerpt of visuals shown at the October edition of Cosmic Dancer. Sabrina Salerno’s infamous liberal performance of her tune wedgie ‘Boys’ is pleasurably prolonged by recompressing the speed of all video frames by 10%. Unfortunately the projection had to be terminated fairly early in the night after some male members of the audience became so fixated by all those bouncing balls that the Dj felt like he was (direct quote) ‘playing for drooling zombies’.
If you can’t get enough of Boys though why not check out this version by v/vm on their myspace. (Thanks Mix Mup). Sabrina on the other hand has since left this passage of her life (or should we blatantly call it a slip up?) waaaay behind and now runs a respectable managment agency. It’s called New Boys Productions. And you should check it out if your looking for a good time.
Finally! New Website and Blog.
Good things come to those who wait… Or so they say. Anyway. Without much further ado. Here is our new website and blog. Please have a look around and let us know what you think. Big thanks go out to James Chambers who programmed the site for us. We owe you. Cari Saluti

now one can concentrate on the thing that seemed to get lost: virtuosity.”
