The Future Is Past Vol.6

190

Welcome to the sixth installment of The Future is Past show after a prolonged hibernation period. Wearily we squint our eyes towards the sky and soberly find it’s still overcast and dismal right as we left it. Add to the misery, rain still reigns and our face is being by chapped by the cold. No one is there to embrace us in our sorrows and we feel a most undesirable sentiment creeping up inside us. Tip Tap. Bit by bit. Weltschmerz is increasing. Asudden solo piano music and films by Ingmar Bergman make sense. Longingly we wrap up warm in our blankets and reminisce about those days in summer, roller skates on our feet and the sun titilating our skin. Oh Melancholia. Dainty sweet sadness taken on lightness. You make us realize why life is worth living for. Now lets wallow in it…

The Future Is Past is a forth-nightly radio show featuring sixty minutes of eclectic and unmixed music from all genres. The next show will take us to France avec Monsieur Phillippe for another popular editon of pop cities, c’est bien ça?

But fear not, as usual there is a lot of past and some future(ama) caught on tape. The Future is Past Vol. 1

Vol.1

The first edition of our weekly podcast The Future is Past. It features 60 minutes of unmixed tracks that have just been released, recently published on blogs or simply rediscovered by us while digging through our dusty record collection. Why yet another podcast you might ask? Oh well, for sentimental reasons: Not long ago, when the only things that twittered were birds and a computer was just one of those sad, grey boxes in our dad’s office we used to make tapes for each other to inform us of new musical trends. An eclectic selection of songs, a TDK D-60 cassette, a handwritten track list and an appalling sound quality were the simple ingredients for this exhilarating spare time pleasure. Now that we have grown a bit older we look back longingly at those times and have therefore decided to do a Marty Mc Fly, go back in time and start all over again. That means, that there are no musical boundaries here and we also won’t take things too seriously. Thanks to 128kps compression we even kept the sound quality as appalling as possible. So there you go. The future is past. The past is the future. Enjoy.

Big thanks go out to Indra Moroder who kindly lend her voice to the jingle and Murray aka. Rekindle who mixed it all up like a reborn Conni Plank. Shout outs to Neck of tapedeck.org for sponsoring the tapes and Tom, who sent over a recording “The Future is Past” by Giorgio Moroder. We would have included it in the show, but unfortunately the song is quite bad. Very bad. Sorry Giorgio.
